The Khalamari kid is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VIII. It is the infant form of the giant Khalamari.

Characteristics

Khalamari kids are small squids with smiling faces. Their mantles and fins are pink while the rest of their body and tentacles are a light shade of yellow. They wield a conch shell in their tentacles like a club, but are more likely to spend their turns doodling in the sand instead of clobbering enemies with them. The cephalopods also have a tendency to be called away by their parents in the middle of battle, as well. They share a close relationship with King kelps, often being called by them to serve as the audience for their songs.
