The Gigalumph can be found in the Rexwood region in Disc 2, the Orph region in Disc 2, the Deja region in Disc 2, and the Probina region in Disc 2. The Gigalumph has a rare chance of dropping a Gigalumph Heart, allowing one party member to become a Gigalumph when the heart is taken to the Temple of Dharma.

For the monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII, see Galumph (vocation).

The Gigalumph is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest VII. It is a rotund, ice-breathing monster that stays in midair with the help of the six tiny wings on its back.

Characteristics[edit]

Gigalumphs are bizarre flying beasts that appear to be an amalgamation of several different monsters. They have elephantine bodies with lumpy skin like a reptile, a long tail, and six pairs of wings that are somehow able to keep it aloft. The monsters are known for their ability to freeze unprepared adventurers solid with their ice-cold breath. The gigalumph had a long hiatus after their original appearance, eventually reappearing in Monsters: Joker 2 Professional as monsters of the Undead family.

Trivia[edit]

 • Due to a naming error in the Nintendo 3DS version of VII, both the boss and the monster vocation in VII are mistakenly named after the weaker Galumph monster rather than the Gigalumph itself. This can be seen as the boss uses the Gigalumph's model and a character will be transformed into a Gigalumph if they change their vocation to one. Oddly enough, the monster heart is still named the Gigalumph heart.
