The platinum mail is a recurring suit of armour in the Dragon Quest series. It is a beautiful suit of silver and gold armour that offers its wearer protection from magic damage, and is often the direct upgrade to the Magic armor.

This armor may be won in either the Port Haven or Turnscote casinos, and can be found in Howcastle behind a door that requires the Ultimate Key. It provides +66 defense, +51 style, and negates 15 points of magical damage from all non-Zap spells. It can be worn by the Hero, Terry, Carver, Lizzie, Amos, and Goowain.
- The Dragon shield is also available in the aforementioned casinos, and can be equipped along with the platinum mail by most characters. This makes the battle with Murdaw significantly easier and is a popular strategy for low-level playthroughs.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The platinum mail has a defence bonus of +63, a style bonus of +51, and reduces damage from all non-Zap spells by 20. It can be equipped by the Hero and Aishe and is acquired if a male character wins the Best Dressed Contest for the Excellence Grading Organisation in El Ciclo. It can be sold for 4,750 gold.

The platinum mail has a defence bonus of +72 and magical protection has returned to 15 points. Only the Hero and Angelo can wear it. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot or dropped by Hell's gatekeepers in the PS2 version. It can be sold for 4,900 gold.

The mail increases the Hero's defence by +62, and can be purchased from the travelling merchant in Castle Avalonia for 6,480.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
The Platinum Mail is an A-rank piece of armour that can be purchased up to five times monthly from the Individual Tournament Medal Swap Shop for 400 medals. It has a DEF bonus of +16, increases the wearer's Physical Res by 8%, and can only be equipped by Attack and Defence units. The armour has three slots for Alchemy Effects.
