The Wharfhorse is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest VII.
Its name is a pun on the term "war horse" and the nautical term wharf.
Characteristics
Wharfhorses are big anthropomorphic seahorse warriors with blue scaly skin and a pair of arms. They have green fins on the sides of their heads and a larger pair of fins on its back which have pale yellow webbing. The undersides of their bodies are also pale yellow. These monsters wear armor reminiscent of the kind worn in Roman times, consisting of a bronze cuirass with pauldrons attached, pink faulds, and a belt around their waists. Wharfhorses wield a purple shield with a gold design in the center and a silver trident with a purple handle.
