Flazzard is a character and antagonist in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. He is an elemental being capable of controlling both fire and ice brought to life by Hadlar's forbidden magic. Flazzard commands the Blizzblaze Legion, a group of fearsome elemental monsters.
Appearance and Personality
Flazzard is a tall monster with a humanoid form; the left side of his body is composed of lava rocks and flames much like a Magmalice, while the right side of his body is composed of icy rocks and shards similar to a Firn fiend. He has solid red eyes with black pupils and a cruel jagged mouth. Flazzard also wears the Infernal Emblem granted to him by Dark King Vearn around his chest.
He inherited the cruelty of his creator, Hadlar, and is obsessed with achieving victory at any cost. Flazzard states that he dislikes fighting, but is willing to do whatever it takes to win in battle, including using underhanded tactics such as harming women and children.
Abilities
Due to Flazzard's unique elemental composition, he is able to absorb the effects of fire attacks and spells such as Frizz with the left side of his body and ice spells like Crack with the right side of his body, then returning them at his attackers. As the very embodiment of fire and ice, naturally Flazzard is a master spellcaster capable of casting the highest level magic of both elements, Kafrizz and Kacrack. His pyrokinetic abilities are powerful enough to cause a volcanic eruption and his cryokinesis can completely encase his enemies in ice. He is also capable of extending his arms to attack like rubber and can regenerate any limbs that have been dismembered. Some of his other techniques include:
- Blizzblaze Curse Field: A forbidden spell that creates a field which reduces an enemy's strength to one-fifth of their normal strength and prevents them from using magic.
- Blizzblaze Shrapnel Detonation: Flazzard fires off countless rock shards from his body in all directions, which are nearly impossible to dodge. He also uses it as a signal to his Blizzblaze Legion.
- Five Finger Flames: Flazzard charges a Kafrizz spell on each finger of his left hand, then fires them off, utterly incinerating any opponent in his path.

After Hadlar was resurrected by the Dark King Vearn, he used forbidden magic to create Flazzard and was placed in charge of the Blizzblaze Legion of the Dark Army.
Dragon Quest Tact
Flazzard appears as an A-rank monster of the Inorganic family as part of the limited Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai event alongside Dragonoid Baran on his banner. He is faced in Chapter 3, Episode 4 of the event quests entitled Blizzblaze General Flazzard and also appears as a boss in the Showdown on Valge Island! and All-Out Battle! Dark Commander Hadlar stages. Flazzard can participate in Baran's Battle Road as a party member.

Etymology
Flazzard's name is a combination of the words "flame", the Japanese name for the Dancing flame, and "blizzard", the Japanese name for the Frostburn.
