Trivia[edit]

  • The Morphean mushroom's name is derived from Morpheus, the Greek god of slumber.
  • The monster's Japanese name Matango is a reference to the 1963 body-horror film from Toho Studios about a group of castaways on an island who are slowly transformed into mushrooms. It was released in the United States in 1963 under the name Attack of the Mushroom People.
