The Morphean Mushroom is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is a grey-stalked Funghoul with a lavender cap dotted with light blue spots. It spews intoxicating breath like its Funghoul comrades, while also putting enemies to sleep just by attacking them.

- The Morphean mushroom's name is derived from Morpheus, the Greek god of slumber.
- The monster's Japanese name Matango is a reference to the 1963 body-horror film from Toho Studios about a group of castaways on an island who are slowly transformed into mushrooms. It was released in the United States in 1963 under the name Attack of the Mushroom People.
