The Cobra claw is a recurring Claw weapon in the Dragon Quest series.
It is a mid-to-end game weapon can lethally Poison its target, with the success of the infliction varying between titles. Monsters will succumb to the Poison at the fixed rate, ignoring any resistances save for immunity.
Localization history[edit]
The weapon's Japanese name does not allude to venomous serpents in any way, instead describing the claws as being infernally-themed with the original Enix of America localization matching its original counterpart. This is conveyed in several in-game descriptions which akin the talons to those of a powerful demon. It is unknown why Square Enix of America chose it ignore the nature of the weapon's name in lieu of the cobra moniker, but it was possibly done to underline the poisoning aspect.
