Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]

The thorn whip (called the Spiny whip in the GBC version) has an attack bonus of +18. It can be equipped by the Hero, Mages, Thieves, Gadabouts, and sages. It can be purchased in shops for 320 gold in the NES version, but in remake versions of the game, it is obtained by turning in 5 mini medals to the medal collector in Aliahan. It can also be sold for 240 gold coins.

  • In the NES version, this weapon only dealt damage to a single enemy, only gaining the ability of other whips to attack a group in remakes. Warriors and Merchants were able to equip the whip, but lose the ability to do so in remake versions of the game.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]

The thorn whip has an attack bonus of +14 and can be purchased for 200 gold. In remake versions of the game, it has been replaced by the divine dagger.
