Artful amethyst is an item that appears exclusively in Dragon Quest IX. It is an exquisite purple-coloured jewel that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Artful amethysts can be purchased from the shop in L'Académie de Notre Maitre des Médailles for 2,000 gold each, picked up from sparkly spots at the Hotto Steppe - Northern Whale Way Station, the Zwaardsrust - Whale Way Station, the Battleground, the Fortress of Fear, the Path to Trial Isle, and the Citadel of Spite. It can also be dropped by Vicious succubats, Bobongas, Vicious hypothermions, Hard-boiled eggsoskeletons, Shadeshifters, Crystalotls, and Malicious diethons.
Artful amethyst is used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:
