The scale shield is a recurring shield that appears in the Dragon Quest series. It is a typically low-ranking shield that is made from scales.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III (GBC Version)
The scale shield has a defense bonus of +12, and can be equipped by the Hero, warriors, priests, merchants, gadabouts, thieves & sages. It can be purchased for 600 gold coins, and sold for 450.
Dragon Quest IV
The scale shield has a defense bonus of +7, and can be equipped by all characters except for Alena & Maya. Hank Hoffman Jr. & Oojam have it among their equipment. It can be purchased for 180 gold coins and sold for 135. Tessie will sell this at Torneko's shop for 270.
Dragon Quest V
The scale shield has a defense bonus of +7. They can be bought for 180 gold in Roundbeck, Fortuna, Lodestar Harbour, Zoomingale, and Gotha. The Hero, Bianca, Nera, Son, Daughter, Harry, Sancho, and Tuppence can equip it.
Dragon Quest VI
Scale shields have a defense bonus of +7 and a style bonus of +4. The Hero, Carver, Amos, Terry, Nevan, and Goowain can equip them. Gum shields and Wayward armours have a 1/64 chance of dropping a scale shield. They can be sold for 135 gold and bought for 180 gold in Haggleton, Somnia, and Port Haven.
