The Meowgician is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Introduced in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, it is an anthropomorphic cat with mage-like qualities.
Characteristics
Mewling bipedal amateur catty casters of magic that wear an orange robe in an attempt to hide their feline form, along with a bronze cat bell worn around their necks on a long chain. Carrying gnarled wooden staves that they constantly tap against the ground, allowing them to fling the fiery Frizz spell, although they quickly run out of power to cast it.

Trivia
- The statements that the meowgician is hiding a second tail under its robe and lived for a century prior to learning magic are references to the nekomata yokai of Japanese mythology, which is a cat whose tail split into two and took on magical properties after living for 100 years.
