It is an anthropomorphic spear-wielding summer squash.
CharacteristicsEdit
The Cruelcumber] and their cousins are tribal looking vegetables with deranged smiles, their tongues flailing about as they fight. Interestingly, a bit of dishwater blonde hair extends from the tip of their stem, giving them a look reminiscent of the Chonmage, a traditional Japanese topknot hairstyle. Cruelcumbers have a rivalry with Orcs over who are the better spearmen, according to their bestiary entry in X.

Dragon Quest XEdit
Cruelcumbers began appearing in Version 5.0 of the game, this time being stronger than both their Zumeanie and Scourgette cousins by virtue of being introduced later in the game. They can perform Multithrust and lunging attacks with their spears, as well as being able to cast Oomph.

Monty will offer it if the player answers "No" to the question: “Would you say you prefer lovable monsters to more rugged types?”, "Yes" to “Would you prefer a monster with sleek skin to one that's on the furrier side?”, and "No" to “Do you like weird and wonderful monsters?”.
