The Gold rosary is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series that is commonly associated with clergy and other pious characters. Depending on the game, it either gives a small boost to the wearer's defence or spellcasting abilities, and in some games it can even protect the wearer from fatal damage.
Localization history[edit]
In the Japanese version of Dragon Quest III, the item originally known as the "Silver rosary" (ぎんのロザリオ, Gin no rozario), but was translated as Gold rosary in the mobile and Nintendo Switch versions. It is a different item from the "Gold rosary" (金のロザリオ, Kin no rozario) which was introduced in Dragon Quest VIII, but the international version treats them as the same accessory.
In Dragon Quest X, both accessories appear, with the silver rosary being able to be upgraded into the gold rosary through accessory synthesis. The silver rosary's name was eventually changed from being written in hiragana to kanji (銀のロザリオ) in order to avoid confusion with the gold rosary.
