The Icicle dirk is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest franchise.
This icy dagger can cast Crackle when used in battle, and deal an extra bit of chilly damage in most titles.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]
The Icicle dirk has an Attack bonus of +75. It can only be equipped by the Hero, Ragnar McRyan, and the 9th Chosen One.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
The Icicle dirk has an Attack bonus of +70 and deals 150% damage to monsters with no ice resistance. It can only be equipped by the Chimaera, Drag-goof, Great dragon, Grudgerigar, Pocus poppet, Rebjørn, Rockbomb, Saber, Small fry, Snowbird, and the Walking corpse.
- The Crackle cast by the dirk is slightly different in V, dealing 25~55 damage like Swoosh instead of Crackle's normal 42~58.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
Equippable by Carver and Ashlynn, the Icicle dirk provides +62 Attack and +31 Style. It is the prize for winning rank E in Slimopolis, and is dropped by Freezing fogs at a rate of 1/128.
The damage range for the Crackle-effect has returned to the usual 42~58.
The dirk deals bonus, Ice-element damage to the target monster that is half of the physical damage previously dealt before resistance apply and if said monster is defeated by the initial blow then the bonus damage will be redirected to a different target. This bonus damage will activate on the following physical-blow skills: Dragon Slash, Double-Edged Slash, Flame Slash, Frenzy, gust slash, Hatchet Man, Kacrackle Slash, Lightning Slash, Mercurial Thrust, Metal Slash, & Undead Undoer.
Jackal rippers use it in battle.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The Icicle dirk has an Attack bonus of +62 and an Style bonus of +31. It can only be equipped by Ruff, and features the same extra damage parameters as before along with the list of skills that trigger the effect. It is sold in Providence and Buccanham for 9,000 gold coins.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The Icicle dirk has an Attack bonus of +52. It can only be equipped by Jessica Albert in the PS2 version, as well as Red in the 3DS port, and keeps the bonus damage from the past three titles.
The dirk can be found in the Herb Grotto and the Black Citadel. It sells for 4,000 gold coins and can be used to make the following recipes through Alchemy:

The dirk can be upgraded into the Fenrir fang when combined with five ice crystals and three magic beast horns. The new weapon will have an Attack bonus of +80, and also target groups when used as an item.
