The Weaken beakon is a recurring monster in the series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III, it is a monster with the head and feet of a wingless bird.
Characteristics[edit]
Weaken beakons are large flightless birds, having the appearance of a long pair of legs growing from their heads. They have purple or pinkish plumage with red skin around their faces and large, sharp beaks that they use to tear apart prey. Like their weaker kin, these beakons have the ability to act twice per turn and are even able to cast magic to soften the defences of their opponents. According to their monster info in X, weaken beakons are the natural enemy of treefaces as they use their large beaks to dig burrows into the trunks of large trees.

Dragon Quest Rivals[edit]
Weaken beakon appeared in the 6th card pack, "A Symphony of Small Hope" as a normal card common to all leaders.
Origins[edit]
All three Beakon types are exaggerated parodies of the Phorusrhacidae family of flightless birds. More commonly know as terror birds, these walking hatchets possessed enormous beaks and existed as apex predators in the plains of South America roughly 2 million years ago in the Cenozoic era.
