The spiked armour, also known as the Swordedge armor and Blade armor, is a recurring suit of armor in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest III. It causes recoil damage on any attacker. In all its depictions, the spiked armour has a blue cloth emblazoned with a yellow cross on the front.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest III[edit]

The spiked armour has a defence bonus of +55 and will always cause 50% damage to an attacker. One set of it can be found in Gondo Cave and can't be sold in the NES Version.
In the SNES and GBC versions, it can be purchased at a shop at the Pachisi Board in Kol for 6,500, and sold for 4,875.
Dragon Quest IV[edit]
The spiked armour has a defence bonus of +50. It has a 50% chance to reflect 25% damage to the attacker. The secret armour store in Endor sells this. It can be equipped by the Hero, Ragnar, Torneko, and Psaro.
Dragon Quest V[edit]
The spiked armour once again has a defence bonus of +55, a 50% chance to inflict a quarter of damage back to the enemy, and can be equipped by Sancho and Tuppence. A set is found in the Riteof Passage.
Dragon Quest VI[edit]
The spiked armour is found in the Cryptic Catacombs, the same dungeon that houses the Shield of Valora. The Hero, Carver, Amos, Terry, Lizzie, and Goowain can equip it, and it provides +55 defence, +15 style, and a 50% chance to cause a quarter recoil damage to enemies.
Dragon Quest VII[edit]
The spiked armour has a defence bonus of +55, a style bonus of +15, and a 50% chance to cause quarter recoil damage. It can be equipped by the Hero and Aishe. It can be purchased from the Immigrant Town when it has 30-34 people for 6,500 gold and sold for 3,250 gold. It can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel at Buccanham's Casino.
