Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
The flame shield has a defence bonus of +40, and reduces damage from ice spells and skills by 15. It may be equipped by the Hero (Dragon Quest V), Parry, and Tuppence. It is sold for 17,000 in Faerie Lea and Precaria.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
The flame shield retains it's defence bonus of +40, and now reduces ice damage by 20. It may be equipped by the Hero (Dragon Quest VI), Carver, Terry, Amos, and Lizzie. It is sold in Felonia for 17,000.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The flame shield increases defence by +36, style by 17, and cuts ice damage by 25. It is sold for 17,000 in the Dwarf's Den, and can be equipped by the Hero and Aishe.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The flame shield offers a defense bonus of +34, reduces fire damage by 10, and casts a form of Insulatle that only cuts flames when used as an item in battle. Why the sudden change in parameters is unknown, possibly to highlight the existence of the Ice shield. It can be equipped by Yangus and Jessica in all versions as well as by Morrie in the 3DS port, and is sold in both Empycchus for 7,100.
