Finessence is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is the essence of martial arts knowledge in bottle form that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Finessence has a 10% chance of being found in Rank 5 blue treasure chests. One can be received as a reward from the first-time completion of Quest #37: Funghi for a Fun Guy. It could be purchased for 1,700 gold from the DQVC when it was still available during Alchaid Week 3 and it can be sold for 850 gold.

Finessence can be made in the Krak Pot and is used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest XEdit

Finessence is used as an ingredient for crafting weapons and armour. It can be purchased from a material store for 680 gold, found in black treasure chests, or dropped by various monsters, including Spiked clubs, Orcs, Bad hares, Orc kings, and Trolls.

Finessence can be purchased at the item shop in Octagonia for 680 gold each or can be dropped by Bongo drongos, Jockilles, Jerkules, and Bad hares. Phials of finessence can be found in Gallopolis, Puerto Valor, and Octagonia. It can be sold for 170 gold.

Finessence is used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight BelowEdit

Finessence can be dropped by Trolls, Boss trolls, and Stout trolls, or can be received from King Flaminio in exchange for 5 Mini medals on the Stonecloud. It is used for creating Titan belts and the classic recipes for the Strength ring and Wrecklace in the Alchemy Pot or sold for 325 gold. Two phials of finessence are required to complete Quest #12: Improving on Perfection 5.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's EndEdit

Finessence is used as a material for improving various accessories or sold for 325 gold. It can be dropped by Trolls, Heavy hoods, Loss leaders, and Atlas.

Dragon Quest TreasuresEdit

A potion imbibed by the chivalrously inclined. Used mainly for cooking. Mostly found on the Paternoggin and the Wingswept Moors.[3]

Finessence can be foraged from flowers on the Paternoggin and the Wingswept Moors or sometimes received by sending a dispatch team to the Greywing Gateway area of the Wingswept Moors. It is used for cooking dishes at the canteen or for scouting monsters.
