The beast claws are a recurring set of claw in the Dragon Quest series. They are a powerful, high-level weapon designed for martial artists and other brawlers. Originally plain can-openers with no special traits, they now inflict more damage to monsters in the Beast family as of the ninth game.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]
The beast claws were added in the 1996 remake and have an Attack bonus of +95, and can only be equipped by Martial Artists and Thieves. They are the strongest set of claws in the game and only appear in remake versions. The beast claws can be found in Theddon underneath the cross, but only after receiving the first riddle from the riddle master in Cloudsgate Citadel. They can be sold for 412 gold, but it is not recommended to do so as there is only one set in the game. Martial artists can equip the more powerful Destructiball, but doing so will remove their ability to deal critical hits, and by the time the player obtains the claws their rate will easily be over 1⁄6th. Players who prefer to gamble on decisive blows arm their artists with the claws instead, and leave the wrecking ball to the other vocations.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The beast claws have an Attack bonus of +95, a Style bonus of +25, and can only be equipped by Ruff. The claws have a 1⁄128 chance of being dropped by freezing wingwyrms, gnuriels, and gnumesises. They can be sold for 275 gold.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the claws can also be dropped by tearwolves at the same rate. They can also be received rarely as a clear reward by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a gnucifer, gnumesis, cerberex, or rotwyrm as a boss.
