The ring of truth, also known as the sober ring, is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest VIII. It features several peculiar eyeball-like designs and helps protect the wearer against illusions/bedazzlement.

The ring of truth is an accessory with a Defence bonus of +10 that protects the wearer against Dazzle. It can be equipped by all characters and can be sold for 700 gold. It is worth noting that Gigaflash will still envelop a character in illusions even if they are equipped with the ring. One can found in a treasure chest in the World of Darkness version of the Godbird's Eyrie. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot and can be used to create a catholicon ring.

The ring of truth is one of the ingredients for the catholicon ring.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
The ring of truth has a Defence bonus of +2, a Style bonus of +5, and increases resistance against bedazzlement by 50%. It can be dropped by various monsters including dessert demons and war gryphons. With accessory synthesis, the Defence and bedazzlement resistance can be increased.

The recipe book Little Lifesavers contains the recipe for the Ring of truth. It can be found in a treasure chest in Heliodor Castle in the Queen's Bedchamber during the second act.

The quick recipe for the ring of truth can be received from King Flaminio in exchange for 2 Mini medals, while the classic and luxury recipes can be dropped rarely by Bags o' laughs and Goodybags.

The ring of truth reduces the duration of being dazzled by 40%. Once it has been fully upgraded, the bedazzlement duration will be reduced by 80% and it will also grant a Defence bonus of +10. The ring can be received by exchanging 6 mini medals once or it can be dropped rarely by gryphons and war gryphons.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]
The ring of truth is a 4★ accessory with a Defence bonus of +2 that comes equipped with the Illusion Guard skill, which increases resistance against bedazzlement by 50%. At max level, the resistance can be boosted to a total of 60%. The ring can be created at the equipment workshop.
Dragon Quest Walk[edit]
The ring of truth is a 3★ accessory with a Defence bonus of +5 that increases the wearer's bedazzlement resistance by 5%. It can be received as a reward for defeating a mega monster Metal dragon.
