The divine dagger is a recurring weapon in the Dragon Quest series. It is a simple knife that can typically be equipped by any character or vocation, making it useful for those who cannot wield heavier weapons. Later games in the series gave the dagger the ability to deal increased damage against monsters of the undead family.
Characteristics
The divine dagger has had two distinctive designs throughout the series, both with relatively simple designs. The original design has a simple short blade, but a beautiful handle with a red grip, a gold and red crossguard decorated with a small blue gem, and a red heart-shaped pommel decorated with gold edges and another small blue gem. Starting with Dragon Quest IX, the divine dagger is an upgraded version of the bronze knife and simply has a recolored blade. In Dragon Quest XI, the divine dagger is now a light purple-silver color with gold on the pommel and crossguard and various runes carved into the blade.
Appearances
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line
The divine dagger has an attack bonus of +12. It can be purchased from Leftwyne, Moonahan, and Rippleport for 200 gold and sold for 100. The divine dagger can be equipped by all three characters. It is the only bladed weapon that the Princess of Moonbrooke can equip and is a worthwhile upgrade from the cypress stick.
