Galenholm (ガライ, Garai) is a town located in the northwestern corner of Alefgard in Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest Builders. It is named for its founder, Galen who traveled the kingdom as a bard of high renown, and owned the Lyre of Ire. It was preceded by Galen's House, which was present during the events of Dragon Quest III. It does not appear in Dragon Quest II along with many other locations in Alefgard.

Synopsis

Dragon Quest

Galenholm is typically the first major town the hero visits after Tantegel, offering substantial equipment improvements over the paltry selection in the aforementioned town. It is also revisited later in the game after the hero has obtained a supply of Magic Keys, giving the player access to the Grave of Galen.

Dragon Quest Builders

In this game, Galenholm (along with Kol) consists of different areas that can be reached by using teleportals: the Bleak and Burning Badlands, the Ruins, the Island of Lava and the Island of Ice.
