The scarewolf is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in the original game. It is a brown-furred werewolf that has learned how to use magic.

Characteristics[edit]

Scarewolves are brown-furred bipedal wolfmen that don grey tunics and boots with gold tops, a long tail poking out of the bottom of their tunics. Around their waist, they wear belts with a light purple jewel as a buckle. They are deadlier combatants compared to their blue-furred cousins, having gained the ability to cast Fizzle to seal away the magic of adventurers. The lycanthropes are more than capable of ripping enemies to shreds with a combination of their razor-sharp fangs and claws. It has a different colour palette in IX, Super Light, and Tact, having a lighter shade of red-orange fur, dull brown tunics and boots, and a blue belt around its waist with a light green jewel on its buckle.
