The Bones of Baramos is a recurring monster that was first introduced in Dragon Quest III.
A literal shell of his former self, Baramos's rotten corpse is reanimated by Zoma's sorcery to delay the Hero and party's advance. It has gone on to appear as both a boss and a recruitable monster in other games.
Characteristics[edit]
In its original appearance and most games, the Bones of Baramos is merely a different colour scheme of Skelegon. Although their designs differ in two principal reasons: the colour of the bones and the colour of the eyes. The colour of the bones is a deep shade of purple (since purple is the color of death in Japan) and the colour of the pupils of the eyes are white, instead of blue.
However, in Emblem of Roto, Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D, and in Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key his design is completely different: instead of merely being the skeleton of Baramos, it is now an actual zombie, reflecting the monster's Japanese name. This is proven by the fact that some flesh is still held into the bones and because this zombie still wears the cape that Baramos wore in life. The skin shown is a sickly shade of green, really zombie-like, the bones are still purple, but the eyes are a solid blue. The cape's colors are more darker and the cape itself has been torn in different sections.
Monster Battle Road Victory features a completely different design, instead simply being another palette swap of Baramos himself with a purple body and robes in a different shade of purple.

Strategy (HD-2D Remake, Draconian difficulty)[edit]
Once again, this boss got a massive buff in the HD-2D Remake. 2-3 actions a turn, ~300 HP regeneration, and Attack Attacker and Double Up too, which will delete even the bulkiest character in one hit despite having multiple layers of defense through of Kabuff.
Bones of Baramos is Snooze-immune. Instead, your only real option is to kill it before it kills you, as long-term survival simply doesn't exist with how much Double Up does even though Kabuff stacks. Still, it's usually worth it to get 3-4 Kabuffs up, as they will let your party survive 1-2 more extra hits. If you have means to get extra evasion, use them. The boss' defense isn't 0 anymore; Sap works and is fairly reliable, so use it if relying on physical damage. Otherwise, spam as much Kazap and Kafrizz as you possibly can and hope the boss misses his attacks and doesn't use Double Up.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Bones of Baramos began appearing in Version 1.5.4 of the game as a rare boss in the Magical Labyrinth, as well as one of the so-called "Three Legendary Demons" along with the Soul of Baramos and King Hydra.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]
This game featured both the monster's original design and the design introduced in Terry's Wonderland 3D as a separate monster, the latter being known as "Corpse of Enmity Bones of Baramos" (怨恨の骸バラモスゾンビ, Enkon no Mukuro Baramosu Zonbi) in order to differentiate the two. Both were SS-rank monsters of the Undead family.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]
Bones of Baramos appears as a minor boss in the Dragon Quest III story events, as well as in Guided by Rubiss Light. In both cases it appears in the boss rush prior to facing Zoma.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
Bones of Baramos appears as a S-rank monster of the Undead family and appears as a boss during the original Dragon Quest III event, eventually appearing on its own banner during the second part of the Silver Week event alongside Skeleton swordsman. It could eventually be scouted from any limited banner, as well. Bones of Baramos can be faced in Chapter 5, Episode 3: Baramos? of the Dragon Quest III event quests.

Trivia[edit]
- Due to being a pallet swap in his original design, the zombified Baramos is shown to have wings when his original artwork and sprites do not convey or allude to these limbs at all.
