The Swamp Shrine is the resting place of the fabled mirror of Ra in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, replacing the featureless swamp tile of past versions of the game.

Appearances

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake

The Swamp Shrine is to the east of Moonbrooke and, true to its name, rests in a foul bog. The player is first made aware of its existence when the Prince of Midenhall and the Prince of Cannock explore the ruins of Moonbrooke to find any traces of their cousin after it was laid waste to by the Children of Hargon. When the two boys explore the central garden, a mysterious voice rings out from the sole surviving flower and urges them to travel to the shrine to the east―this is the spirit of the Queen of Moonbrooke guiding her extended family to save her daughter.

The shrine itself is nothing more than an altar with four stone lanterns set on top of a raised mound of grassy earth surrounded by swamp water in the middle of the forest, with the sacred mirror sitting plainly in the open. Should the player visit the place before Moonbrooke, the Prince of Cannock will quip about how odd it is that a mirror is kept in such a place.
