If the spell were to hit had it been cast by the player, the enemy would take 16~32 more damage.

The zombiesbane is a powerful sword in the Dragon Quest series. True to name, it deals 50% more damage to creatures from the zombie family in most instances. In games that feature alchemy, it can often be upgraded into the more powerful zombie slayer.

Appearances

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation

The zombiesbane has an attack bonus of +67. It can be equipped by the Hero, Warriors, Priests, Merchants, and Sages. It can be bought in Manoza for 9,800 gold coins and sold for 7,350 gold coins.

Contrary to later appearances, the sword does not actually deal bonus damage to the undead; instead, the extra damage is based on the target's vulnerability to the Poof spell. When the decision to attack has been made and base damage has been calculated, the game will then check the foe's resistance to the spell and run a simulation without the player knowing. If the spell were to hit had it been cast by the player, the enemy would take 16~32 more damage.
