Mersea is the underwater kingdom in the Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, and home of the mermaids. it lay in the shallow seas southwest of Burrowell and near the shoal named Gaggle Rock, and is ruled over by the Queen of the Mermaids.

Mersea is first accessible after getting lorelei's harp from the Dream-Whisperer at the Faerie Palace following the battle with Belial, and then receiving the mermaid's blessing from Elaine on Gaggle Rock. Mersea is abandoned by the time the Scions of Erdrick and Elaine arrive, with the Queen having ordered her subjects to flee to the Mermaid Sanctuary once Mariella and her forces attacked. Once the Children of Hargon are driven off by the four heroes, the mermaids return to their home and the queen rewards them with the magic key. Mersea has an item shop, an inn, as well as a tombola booth, and in the postgame it gets a second item shop that sells tombola tickets. In the back of the town is the court of the mermaid queen. A number of quests are based out of Mersea; for example, a quest to visit the Sunken Ship and find a pearl that needs to be added to the lorelei harp in order to make the Scions of Erdrick's ship capable of sinking to lower depths. In the process, the player also finds out what became of the mermaid queen's human lover.
