The '''Black dragon''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, introduced in {{Dragon Quest V}}. It is a large, bipedal dragon covered in pitch-black scales.
==Characteristics==
Black dragons are powerful dragons with a large pair of wings on their backs, a long tail, white horns, black scales, and light brown on their undersides and wing membranes. However, when the dragons first appeared, their entire bodies were pitch black.
The Black dragon is a dangerous monster that utilizes nearly every part of its body as a weapon. It can bite down on enemies with their razor-sharp fangs, swipe at multiple foes with their long and powerful tails, and it can breathe out intense flames, as well of those of pure darkness while casting magic, though only in {{X}}. In some spinoff games, they are also capable of breathing out flames of pure darkness or exhaling intense blasts of wind, as well. Their scales make them impervious to many forms of attack. In most cases, they are not as powerful as their golden-scaled cousins, with the {{Joker}} series of games being a notable exception.

The Black dragon is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, introduced in Dragon Quest V. It is a large, bipedal dragon covered in pitch-black scales.
