The Ethereal stone is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a peculiar crystal infused with magic that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (Remake only)[edit]

In the Nintendo 3DS version, there are only two Ethereal stones in the entire game: one is received after defeating Juggerwroth in his second form at the Altar of Wroth and the second can be found in Memories Lane. It can be sold for 2,500 gold coins, but it is not recommended to do so. The Ethereal stone can be mixed in the Alchemy Pot for improving two of Morrie's claws:

Ethereal stones have a 10% chance of being found in Rank 9 blue treasure chests, can be received as a reward for completing Quest #051: A Martyr to His Ma, or made in the Krak Pot by combining an Enchanted stone, a Perfect panacea, and two sprigs of Narspicious. One is dropped by Gadrongo. An ethereal stone is also required to complete Quest #151: Pushy Peddler. It can be used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Ethereal stones are used as an ingredient in the use of Alchemy and equipment crafting. It can be collected from sparkly spots or dropped rarely by various monsters, including Raving lunaticks, Shadows, and Umbras.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Ethereal stones can be found in treasure chests at the Royal Library, the First Forest, and Angri-La, received as a prize for playing poker at the casino in Puerto Valor or Octagonia in the second act, or found from sparkly spots in the Champs Sauvage, the Dundrasil Region, Insula Algarum, the Whale Way Stations at the Manglegrove and Sniflheim, and the Hotto Steppe in the second act, as well as the Path to Trial Isle in the third act. They can also be dropped by Headless hunters, Loss leaders, Manticores, Mothertoads, Spawny devils, and Ursa pandas. The stones can be sold for 600 gold coins each and are used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit]

Ethereal stones can be dropped by Overkilling machines, Überkilling machines, and Zombie gladiators, exchanged for five Mini medals from King Flaminio on the Stonecloud, or received as a reward for defeating a Veteran gigantes with gold clear time. They can be sold for 750 gold coins. Ethereal stones can be used create Sorcerer's rings and the classic recipe for the Mugger's mask in the Alchemy Pot.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End[edit]

Ethereal stones are used as an ingredient for improving various accessories and can be sold for 300 gold coins. They can be exchanged for 3 Mini medals or dropped by Blood mummies, Shadows, Sorcerers, and Zamtasms.
