The wrecktor is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series. Its name is a pun based on the words "wreck" and "rector". There are two other humanoid monsters that share this name:
- Wrecktor from V, which look identical except they lack the horns.
- Wrecktor from VII. They look much like wrecktors do in II, however they have a green cape and wield a magic wand instead of two morningstars. This variant also appears in Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart.

In addition the recurring wrecktor has used two designs over the series' history, wearing a purple robe in its debut appearance and keeping the colour throughout the Monsters series before switching to scarlet for its return to the mainline games in X and the Battle Road games prior to the former.
CharacteristicsEdit
In Dragon Quest II, the wrecktor is a wicked wizard dressed in a white robe with a long purple cape, the front of which is emblazoned with the black bat of the Children of Hargon. It wears green gloves and their mask has purple horns and a singular purple gemstone where their eyes should be. They cast sizzling strong fire spells to wreak havoc in battle. It is ridiculously strong when first encountered and, in many instances, is an optional monster that the player can fight. After defeated, the wrecktor may drop the lightning staff, a staff that casts Sizzle in battle.
Like many other humanoid monsters in the series, the wrecktor is now depicted with five fingers on their hands instead of four in most modern appearances. In their new design, the masks and capes of the mages are now red and their gloves and the gemstone on their masks are lime green.
AppearancesEdit
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary LineEdit
In the original NES version of the game, the Wrecktor only showed up as random encounters on the third floor of the Hall of Hargon. In the remakes, they still appear there, but they also now guard the Lightning staff in Lorasia Castle which was previously guarded by the Whackolyte in the NES version. They are much stronger than the Whackolyte, making the Lightning staff somewhat more difficult to acquire in the remakes.

Wrecktor appears as an A-rank monster of the Demon family as part of the Halloween Treat Tussle event alongside Spooky Valencia on her banner. Starting with Version 4.0 of the game, it can be scouted from any banner, including the Regular SP Scout. The wrecktor could formerly be faced as a boss in the VS Wrecktor quest. It can participate in the Leery lantern, Blossom Hammerhood, and King Korol's Battle Roads as a party member.
