The Scions of Erdrick are made aware of the trumpet by the Over-Seer when she asks them to check on the faeries living in the palace, on the worry that she has not been contacted by them in sometime. She tells them the instrument is kept safe by the mermaids to give the palace an extra layer of protection against nosy humans, which sends the children off to Gaggle Rock to ask their siren Elaine and Melinda for a favor. Melinda swims out to fetch the trumpet, returning very quickly as the Queen of the Mermaids was out and she just filched it from the undersea castle.
Returning to the placid lake northwest of Gwaelin's Gate, the Princess of Moonbrooke puts her years of musical tutelage to use and reveals the home of the fair folk. The Over-Seer's suspicions were well-founded, as the palace is under attack by Belial and his forces.
