The Brute bat is a boss monster encountered in Beran in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.
Rather than simply falling ill as in previous versions of Dragon Quest II, the Prince of Cannock is cursed by the Brute bat's dying breath. Since the sidequest to cure the Prince is the prerequisite for recruiting the Princess of Cannock, the Brute bat is the main obstacle to a full party of four once the party has obtained a ship.
