The moosifer is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series starting with Dragon Quest IV. It is a powerful demon that is a cross between a human man and a goat.

Description[edit]

Fiery furious, grumpy goat-legged beasts that barge their way through battle with their horrendous horns, permanently enraged and ready to rip at any enemies. Their pure rage allows them to unleash a blinding flash that stops opponents being able to hit back against their slashes. Burning hot breath lets them bathe an entire party of adventurers in flickering flame, making them even more of a threat. They often have a variety of different spells in their repertoire, particularly ice and explosive spells and possess strong healing magic, so they can help themselves and aid allies.

Etymology[edit]

The name Moosifer is a portmanteau of the words Moose and Lucifer. Lucifer is the name of a fallen angel mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, and is erroneously used as another name for Satan in modern Christianity.
