The Pillar of Winds is a tower in Dragon Quest II.
It is located in central Torland, east of Moonahan.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
The Pillar of Winds is the first tower dungeon visited in Dragon Quest II, as well as the first tower in Dragon Quest.
It contains the Windbreaker cloak which is required to advance further in the game. Somewhat difficult to locate, you must head northeast of Moonahan and circle around the shore, heading south.
Treasure[edit]
- 43 gold coins (NES version only)
- 350 gold coins (remakes only)
- Cloak of Wind
- Medicinal herb
- Prayer ring (remakes only)
To find your way to the Windbreaker, head south into the central room, and then right. Before you walk right out of the dungeon, head north and take the staircase. Make your way to floor 4F, and take the first staircase you come across. After this, just follow the stairs down to the second floor and claim your prize.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]
The general layout of the tower remains the same, though the eighth floor has been removed. The developers have also included a boss fight in the form of the Lumpfather, one of the Children of Hargon who participated in the siege of Moonbrooke. As a courtesy to new players, the Chancellor of Moonbrooke will explicitly inform the Scions of Erdrick that the windbreaker is in the Pillar of Winds when he speaks to them in the ruins of Moonbrooke.

In addition to the baubles listed above, the Pillar of Winds also contains ability scrolls that teach the reader the Wind Sickles skill & Zin spell.

Trivia[edit]
- The tower was going to be where players would find Ra's mirror in the beta version of the game, but this was changed after playtesters found it too difficult to climb with just two of the three cousins.
