Bruise the Ooze is a mini-game that can be played in Debora Briscoletti's room in Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride.
It is like a slightly more complicated version of "Whack-A-Mole", but with slimes instead of moles.
At first, only regular Slimes appear, but soon the game requires the player to hit Slimes, She-slimes, and eventually Metal slimes in a given pattern. She-slime]]s and Metal slimes are worth more points, but also give a higher penalty if the player hits the slimes in the wrong order. Medicinal herbs also appear; they are unrelated to the point system, but any Medicinal herbs the player hits will go into the item bag.
At the top of the screen, there is a Rockbomb that serves as a timer. It rolls across the top of the screen, but resets itself whenever the player completes a pattern. If the player takes long enough on a pattern that the Rockbomb rolls into the image of the Hero and explodes, the game of Bruise the Ooze ends and the player's score is calculated.
Bruise the Ooze is mainly just for fun, as it has no rewards other than the consumable items that can be tapped during gameplay.
