Race Faerie

The Craft-Master is a faerie who appears in both halves of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake. She is highly skilled in alchemy and is the one responsible for creating the five sigils that embody elements of nature.

Appearance and Personality[edit]

The Craft-Master resembles a young human woman with two pairs of dragonfly-esque wings. She wears her hair in a short ponytail slightly parted to her left side, her attire is a simple yellow dress with an open back for her wings, and she accessorizes with a pair of gold bracers.

As is faerie custom the Craft-Master is referred to by her title and lacks a proper given name. She has a rather bubbly personality and is very eager to put her alchemical skills to good use by helping the lone Hero of Alefgard, snatching the necessary materials right out of his pocket and practically bursting with giddiness when she successfully creates a sigil.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake[edit]

The Craft-Master dwells in the cabin in the northeast section of the Faerie Village where a large magical circle is etched. She is first encountered when the Hero returns to the village after solving the troubles in Rimuldar, and is shown creating the soul sigil from the glowing seeds the Hero gave to the Over-Seer during a prior visit. When the Over-Seer explains the nature of the five sigils and their importance in her plan to call back the Goddess Rubiss to Alefgard, the Craft-Master interjects and explains how the individual sigils will aid the Hero on his journey. She will need to be spoken to each time a sigil reagent is found, with the Arm-Twister and Day-Dreamer acting as her assistants in the process.

When the Dragonlord draws upon the power of the Sphere of Light and begins conjuring his forces across Alefgard, a group of these monsters materialize in the Faerie Village. The Craft-Master will be distraught over the attack on the village and the loss of the Arm-Twister, and will be unable to create any new sigils until the Hero has vanquished the hordes of monsters attacking the other settlements in Alefgard. Once this is done she will resume her station and tell the Hero to speak with the Dream-Whisperer now that all five sigils are in his possession. The boss of the faeries will then announce that is time the fair folk travel to the Shrine of Rain to call their Goddess back into Her creation, but the Craft-Master is among those who fears leaving the village in light of the recent attack. She will remain in the village and aid the Hero my transforming mundane materials into useful items once he has cleared the way for the Dream-Whisperer and Over-Seer in the Shrine of Rain.

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake[edit]

The Craft-Master makes a cameo over a century later, and can be found on the third floor of the Faerie Palace.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Craft-Master speaks in a distinctive Japanese Gyaru manner in the original script, as do nearly all faeries. As this does not easily translate into English, the faeries instead speak in a slightly childish way.
