Platinum ore

Platinum ore is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a chunk of ore containing a high amount of platinum that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Platinum ore can be collected from the Bloomingdale region and the Snowberian Coast, can be dropped by Drackals, Octagoons, and Platinum king jewels, or received as a reward for the first-time completion of Quest #28: Desert Foxes. It can be sold for 1,500 gold coins. Platinum ore is used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest XEdit

Platinum ore is used extensively as a material for crafting weapons, armour, and furniture. It can be purchased from a material shop for 360 gold coins each, picked up from sparkly spots, or dropped by various monsters, including Killing machines, Lethal armours, Knight abhorrents, Overkilling machines, Metal dragons, and Mechan-o'-wyrms.

Platinum ore can be picked up from sparkly spots in the Champs Sauvage, the Eerie Eyrie, the Sniflheim Region, the Snærfeltm the Hekswood, the Arborian Highlands, Nautica, the Heliodorian Foothills, the Heliodor Sewers, and the Fortress of Fear during the second act. Chunks of platinum ore can be received as a reward for receiving first place in the Gold Cup of Gallopolis's horse race or given for participating in the Platinum Cup. It can be purchased for 800 gold coins from the roving emporium in the Emerald Coast and the forge item shop in Hotto during the second act only, as well as the Havens Above during the postgame. Platinum ore can also be dropped by Runny eggsoskeletons and Killing machines, along with their vicious and malicious counterparts respectively. It can be sold for 200 gold coins.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight BelowEdit

Platinum ore can be dropped by Killing machines, Hunter mechs, Lethal armours, and Type G0s or received from King Flaminio in exchange for 5 Mini medals on the Stonecloud. It can be used in the quick recipe for the Mighty armlet or the classic recipe for the Life ring in the Alchemy Pot or sold for 500 gold coins. Two lumps of platinum ore are required to complete Quest #11: Improving on Perfection 4, while three chunks of platinum ore, along with two royal rubies, are required to complete Quest #70: A Birthday Behest.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's EndEdit

Platinum ore is used as a material for improving various accessories or sold for 400 gold coins. It can be dropped by Knight abhorrents and Lethal armours or picked up from sparkly spots in the No Man's Land.
