'''Magic water''' is a rather rare healing item in the {{DQSeries}}. As the vials were originally only found in treasure chests and occasionally dropped by monsters, it is important to stockpile them for the most dangerous segments of a journey, such as when the party has reached the lowest level of the dungeon with the knowledge that a potentially deadly boss is up ahead.

In modern titles, these glass bottles are far less rare, usually even purchasable near the end-game in more mystical locations. This change in scarcity is likely to reflect the substantial stat limit boosts characters have experienced since ''VI''.

Magic water is a rather rare healing item in the Dragon Quest series.

This change in scarcity is likely to reflect the substantial stat limit boosts characters have experienced since VI.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]

In the original NES version of the game, sipping the scintillating water will restore 10~15 MP. In all other versions, it restores 30~35 MP and can be used on allies. Vials of Magic water can be purchased from Endor's Casino for 30 tokens each. They can also be dropped by Bedbugs, Flyguys, Dirty dogus, Mushroom mages, and Dangler fish.

Others may be found in:

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]

The water restores 10~15 MP in all versions of the game. In remake versions of the game, it can be purchased from the shop on Ventuno's TnT Board for 120 gold coins and sold for 60 gold coins. They can be dropped by Prestidigitators, Legerdemen, Wisps-o'smoke, Wizened wizards, Revaulting horses, Wyrtoises, Dwight, and Magman.

Other vials can be found in:

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

When used in battle the water will restore the typical 10~15 MP, but while on the move it will restore 40~50 MP. Magic water appears once again as a Casino prize in Port Haven for 200 tokens each.

Other locations where one can find the fantastic fluids are:

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Similar to IV, the vials will restore 10~15 in the original and 40~50 in the Nintendo 3DS remake. Once again, they can be purchased as a Casino prize at Pilgrim's Rest for 200 tokens each. It can also be won as a prize from the Lucky Panel starting from the Casino at Pilgrim's Rest in the present. In the original Sony PlayStation version, Magic water can be purchased from the Cathedral evolution of Immigrant Town for 200 gold coins and sold for 100. They can also be dropped by Clawcerers, Shamans, Conkjurers, and Dirty dogus. In the 3DS version, they can also be found regularly in treasure chests and dropped by bosses in Traveller's Tablets.

More vials can be found in:

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

Magic water has received a small boost to its potency, restoring 30~35 MP. However, the water is much more useful as an alchemy ingredient. It can be made in the Alchemy Pot, but it is not practical to do so as it requires Seeds of magic. Magic water can be purchased from both Tryan Gully and the Dragovian Sanctuary for 300 gold coins and sold for 150. They can also be purchased from the Casino in Pickham for 100 tokens each. It can be dropped by Crème caraslimes, Frostburns, Hellstalkers, Lost souls, Mud mannequins*, Peepers, Phantom swordsmen, and Winkies.

In the Nintendo 3DS version, vials of Magic water can be found regularly in the blue treasure chests that can be found in the overworld. More vials can be found in:

It can be purchased for 500 gold coins in Porth Llaffan, Slurry Quay, Dourbridge, Bloomingdale, Gleeba, Batsureg, Swinedimples Academy, Wormwood Creek, and Upover and sold for 250 gold coins or can also be found on the Cringle Coast. Vials can be found in the Tower of Trades and the Heights of Loneliness.

Magic water made in the Krak Pot and is also used as an ingredient in some recipes, as well:

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Magic water restores around 36 MP to a single ally. Once again, it can be purchased from various item shops for 500 gold coins. It can also be received as a prize from playing Tombola, received after defeating bosses, or found in blue treasure chests. • In the Offline version of the game, it can be made in the Alchemy Pot by combining a Single phial, Royal soil, and Nectar.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Magic water will restore at least 30 MP to a single ally. In this game, it cannot be purchased from any shops, but can be sold for 250 gold coins. Two vials can be found in a treasure chest in the Kingsbarrow and it can be picked up from a sparkly spot in the First Forest. Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit]

Magic water appears as stage power-ups and can be dropped by various monsters or found in pots or barrels. They restore around 30 MP when picked up to whichever character the player is controlling. Since Magic water does not carry over between levels, it should be used as needed.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Magic Holy Water appears as a skill that is known naturally by Ashlynn at level 1. When used, it restores her MP, but it can only be used three times per battle.
