Kathwack is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest series.
It attempts to kill all enemies outright with a macabre incantation, and is the ultimate form of Whack and Thwack.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen remakes[edit]
Kathwack is learned by the 9th Chosen One at Level 42.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
Conkjurers try to use this spell in battle but always fail due to lack of MP.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
Kathwack is learned by mastering the Sage vocation, and costs 15 MP.
Dogmus also casts it.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
A variety of vocations teach Kathwack: Druid at rank 2, Black bishops at rank 4, and rank 6 of the Bone baron. It costs 15 MP to cast, as usual.
It can be cast by the enemies Conkjurer, Infernal kernel, Dark decanter, and Hirsute hexer, although Conkjurers lack the MP to cast it.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
Angelo can acquire the spell by investing 56 points into his Staff skill and costs 15 MP.
