From Dragon Quest Wiki

Kacraggle is the ultimate Earth-element spell, entrapping a group of enemies with a magic circle under their feet that summons staggering stalagmites to skewer them for a set number of turns.

Localization history[edit]

ジバルンバ was first localized as Ridgeraiser in 2017 with Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End. It strayed from the series' tradition of using ka- and -le prefixes and suffixes, but would remain in use until Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was released in 2023 where ジバルンバ was localized as Kacraggle. This second localization was more in-line with the standard set by Richard Honeywood.

Due to the oddity of there being two sets of names for one line of spells this article will only cover the instances in which Kacraggle is used over Ridgeraiser, as well as the untranslated games in which ジバルンバ appears.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Kacraggle requires a ranger to invest 140 skill points into his or her Ruggedness skill tree to unlock. It costs 16 MP and deals 434~458 Earth damage after a casting time of 45 seconds.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit]

Ridgeraiser costs 64 MP and deals a fixed range 190〜210 Earth damage to all enemies at the start of the next turn cycle.

Terry's Wonderland 3D & Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

Ridgeraiser has the same attributes as in Joker 3.
