Kazam

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Kazam is a spell in the Dragon Quest series. It envelops a target with a sphere of crushing, blasphemous bolts, and is related to the Zam, Zammle, & Kazammle spells.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

Kazam is available only to Sages at level 43. It costs 20 MP to cast, base damage is 120~180, and caps at 315~375.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Sages and Demon swordsmen will learn Kazam upon reaching level 64, and it costs 14 MP to cast. Damage is calculated as (Magical might - 340) × 0.39 +155~169 for a base range of 156~168 and a maximum range of 340~354. When the caster's magical might exceeds 999 then the calculation is modified to (Magical might - 999) /4 + 414~428 for a limit of 539-553 achieved through liberal application of buff effects.

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Rab will learn Kazam at level 52. It costs 18 MP and has a base range of 132~156, capping at 254~278 when Rab reaches 323 magical might. The level requirement for Kazam is much lower than that of Kafrizz, but this is balanced out by Veronica leveling up much faster than the wheezened wizard. As with all darkness spells, the haywire chance is twice as high with Kazam compared to other spells.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker[edit]

Kazam requires 10 MP to cast, deals a maximum of 321~375,and can be learned from:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2[edit]

Kazam deals a minimum of 142~156 damage and up to 350~362. It can no longer be learned from Cursader. It can now be learned from:

Terry's Wonderland 3D & Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

Kazam costs 10 MP and deals 147~162 damage. Upon reaching a wisdom state of 999, the spell will deal 327~362 damage.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3[edit]

Kazam has the same MP cost and damage ranges as in the previous two games.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]

Kazam costs 10 MP and is learned through the Agent Provocateur, Dark Horse, Demoniac, Impactor, Pyrotechnician, and Zam Virtuoso talents. It has a base power of 155 and will deal an average of 345 damage at 999 wisdom.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[edit]

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End[edit]

Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]

Kazam launches an enormous blast of evil energy that homes in on the nearest target, dealing severe Dark-element damage. It costs 18 MP to cast and is learned by drackies, shadow ministers, sham hamwitchs, and umbras.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]

Kazam can be learned by Spooky Valencia at level 31 as well as vendor ghost through Talent Blossoming, and costs 72 MP to cast. It has a range of three squares away from the caster in any direction and inflicts major Zam-type spell damage to a single enemy. Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the amount of MP it costs to cast.

  • Because Kasizzle is not present in Dragon Quest IX, the legacy bosses that originally cast that spell (Dhoulmagus and Psaro) were outfitted with Kazam instead.
