The Sun mirror is a key item in Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.

It is a royal heirloom of the family of Argonia, which is more known to others as the Magic mirror.

Story[edit]

After discovering that Dhoulmagus is magically protected from being followed by the Dark Ruins, the Hero of the Kingdom of Trodain and his party are told by mercenaries of Mr. Golding from Baccarat.

The soldier of the group tells the party that perhaps the Magic mirror of the Kingdom of Argonia might help to allow further entry into the Ruins.

The Hero and party follow that lead and approach Argonia's King, Clavius. He refuses the group at first, but concedes if they accompany Prince Charmles to the Royal Hunting Ground for his initiation into being deemed worthy to inherit the crown.

Despite some hardship, the party are granted owner ship of the Magic mirror, but find it to be without power. They are informed of a Seer who lives west of the castle near a Mystical Spring who is able to point out the mirror can be recharged by the Gigaflash of a Sea dragon.

The Hero and party succeed in restoring it to being a Sun mirror, thus able to travel into the Dark Ruins by placing the artifact in a pedestal by the entrance.
