Cameron's Codex is a new feature which was introduced to the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII. It details the photographic challenges issued by Cameron Obscura, a traveler who wishes to see the world through the issues of the Hero and the party. It utilizes the 3DS version's new photo taking feature. Cameron will give prizes to the player if they have completed a certain amount of challenges and receive stamps for each one. These prizes include rare and valuable items.
Dragon Quest VIII
The photography challenges are unlocked when the party arrives at Port Prospect and meet Cameron Obscura.

- #001 - Shoot a Monster! - "With the camera, of course! Good Goddess, I don't advocate violence! As a gentle introduction to my photographic challenges, I'd like you to snap a shot of a monster out in the wild. Any one will do!"
