Zip is a spell introduced in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai as an obscure branch of the Zoom family which teleports the user to their allies. This spell is most commonly used within dungeons to prevent the party from becoming separated.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit]
After sending Dai and his friends on ahead, Avan catches up with them much faster than should be possible, explaining that he used a Zoom-like spell called Zip.
According to Popp, this spell is likely how Vearn's forces can retreat from battle by vanishing into thin air. It is also likely the "Zoom spell" which they use to come and go from Vearn Palace without opening its gate (as standard Zoom magic does not allow passing through solid objects).
Avan has also developed a type of magic sand which can be placed to serve as a waypoint for Zip, after which the user can teleport to its location even from another dimension.
