Five Finger Flares is a recurring technique first introduced in Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai as one of the signature abilities of the Blizzblaze General Flazzard. It is performed by generating a Kafrizz spell on each of the fingers of his left hand, then shooting them at an enemy and utterly incinerating them. It has gone on to appear in spinoff games in the series where Flazzard makes appearances.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai[edit]
Flazzard first demonstrates the technique against the heroes during the battle at Valge Island Tower, using it against the three sages of Papnica after Apollo casts Insulatle to protect against his breath attacks. The fireballs deal significant damage to the sage. Later on, Popp attempts to replicate the technique in the battle against Superior Being Zamza, but he is only able to create three Kafrizz spells on his fingers. Matoriv discourages his pupil from repeating it in the future, as it could shorten his lifespan. He explains that Flazzard had no trouble doing it because of his devil-may-care attitude and his desire to win at all costs.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]
Five Finger Flares can be learned by Blizzblaze General Flazzard at level 27 and costs 72 MP to cast. It inflicts Frizz-type spell damage five times to random enemies.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]
Five Finger Flares can be cast by Flazzard when faced as a boss and also appears as a skill that can be learned by player characters as a reward during the limited The Adventure of Dai event.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: A Hero's Bonds[edit]
Five Finger Flares appears as a Special Move for Flazzard and the Luminary Leader as a Mage. It is a long-range attack over a wide area that inflicts magical Fire damage five times and temporarily lowers the target's Physical Attack, Physical Defence, Magical Attack, and Magical Defence on the final hit by 30%.
The main way to unlock the skill is by obtaining the Red-Hot Staff from limited Treasure Hunts or from the Shop Exchange.
