An argon lizard is a miid-sized red dragon with a yellow belly and elephantine ear-flaps, debuting in Dragon Quest VIII. It has an older, bigger counterpart called the Great Argon Lizard. The party needs to help Prince Charmles find the lizards in the Royal Hunting Grounds east of Argonia in order to prove his royal worth. Upon its defeat, it commonly drops the ruby-like Argon Heart (not to be confused with the Great Big Argon Heart).
