Kafrizzle (メラガイアー Meragaia in Dragon Quest IX; メラゾーマ Merazoma in other Dragon Quest games where it was first localized as Blazemost) is a recurring offensive spell in the Dragon Quest Series. Kafrizzle is the most powerful spell of Frizz family, targeting a single enemy to deliver maximum fire damage.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III
Wizard and Sage companions learn this spell at level 36. It does about 180 damage, and costs 12 MP to cast.
Dragon Quest IV
Maya (Mara in NES verion) learns Kafrizzle at level 33. It deals about 180 damage, consuming 10 MP.
Dragon Quest V
This spell is used by Bishop Ladja in Dragon Quest V. It obliterates a single enemy with a Fire-elemental spell.
Bianca and Nera both learn this spell at level 33, along with several monster companions. It inflicts between 180-200 damage, making it among the hardest hitting spells.

Dragon Quest VI
This spell can only be obtained by mastering the Armamentalist vocation. It costs 10 mp to casts, and hits between 180~200.
Dragon Quest VII
Only Rangers and WoePriests learn this spell (job level 7 for Rangers, 8 for Woepriests). Deals about 190 damage.
Dragon Quest VIII
Jessica learns this spell at level 35. Kafrizzle is a fire spell targeting single monster, dealing 145-160 base damage.
Dragon Quest IX
Mp Cost:45 Learned by Mage Level 64 Cremates a single enemy with an enormous fireball.
Localization Differences
In Dragon Quest IX, Kafrizzle (メラガイアー Meragaiā) is a new spell; however, despite the fact that Merazoma had been localized as Kafrizzle in Dragon Quest VIII and the DS remakes, to keep with the new spell naming structure Merazoma became Kafrizz. Kafrizzle therefore remains the most powerful of the Frizz family of spells.
