Sap is a recurring spell in the Dragon Quest Series. Introduced in Dragon Quest III, it lowers the defenses of enemies when used.

Early on, this spell is useful on hard enemies, including bosses. However, as the game progresses, monsters have some resistance to this spell and some have complete immunity to it.
