Newid Isle is an island in the center of the world of Dragon Quest IX.

It is the home of Alltrades Abbey and Port Llaffan.

  • The word "Newid" is an anagram of the word "widen", probably refers to the fact that the player can now change their vocations, hence widen their perspective.
  • Newid is also the Welsh word for change which also refers to the fact that the player can change their vocations there.
  • "Newid" when broken up is New I.D. - I.D. being shorthand for identification.
